Iris and the therapeutic florals

The calming benefits of therapeutic florals, February has seen me paint a plethora of flowers. Passion, echinacea and geranium have all dripped from my brush and onto the page. A heady mix of greens and purples have had an influence on my wider work, always a fan of the blues but it is lovely to see additional hues added to the mix. Inspired by a commission piece for a Women’s health company, I love how a project brief can lead you to unexpected places.

My flowing repeats are in full rhythm, I am creating small sections of artwork to build up into a wider repeat. The little splashes and intermixing of droplets on the page are mesmerizing in themselves to watch.

Azure blues and soft mauves work together in my Sprigs collection, translucent ink and watercolour dye runs weave in a out of each other to create a layered image, soon to be given the repeat composition treatment.

Hope your spring is full of fresh inspiration, love Iris x
